Zoe majored in Spanish and Spanish Education at Ohio University after studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She will be teaching high school Spanish this fall!

What are you most excited about when you think of your future classroom?
I am excited for my classroom to be a place where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. I am eager for students to grow within their language and use it to further explore their passions.
What activities or experiences would you say have most prepared you to enter the classroom or profession?
My study abroad and student teaching experiences were absolutely indispensable to my university experience and career preparation. Both allowed me to meet passionate and gracious mentors, lifelong friends, and curious students. Sharing the joys and gifts of language learning is what makes our job so special!
What has been the impact of the Teacher Scholarship Program on your experience becoming a language teacher?
The support I received from the Teacher Scholarship Program enhanced my university experience not only for the lessened financial burden, but also the multitude of resources available through ACTFL that guided and supplemented my studies. The support validated my hard work and propelled me to make the most of my undergraduate studies through experiences like studying abroad. I am the best teacher I can be thanks to the Teacher Scholarship Program and am incredibly grateful for the generous support.
